Good Morning Parents and Scholars. This is Principal Fields with an important announcement. Due to numerous power outages throughout the county, BCCC Scholars will not be attending Beaufort today. Also, broadcast classes at WCECHS have been cancelled today. If you are a driver, the decision to attend BCCC rests with you and your parents/guardians. Campus will open at 9:00 am.
All scholars should contact their instructors to let them know they will not be attending class.You are responsible for completing all work. Please be safe and stay warm.

All Washington County Schools will be closed today, January 10, 2024 due to wind damage and power outages throughout the county. All athletic events (games and practices) will be canceled.
WCS staff may use today as an optional work day with principal approval and if it is safe to travel. Due to power and water issues in Creswell, CES and WCECHS staff who are choosing to work can report to other buildings, including PES/WCMS, WCHS, or the Roper PD Building, to work for the day. Please communicate with your principals where you will be working.

As we continue to monitor the pending forecast which calls for heavy rain and high winds, Washington County Schools will release early on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. Each of our schools will dismiss early at the following times: WCECHS - 12:00 pm, WCHS - 12:30 pm, WCMS - 12:00 pm, PES - 12:15 pm, and CES - 12:00 pm. All after school activities will be canceled and the scheduled school board meeting for tomorrow evening will be postponed until the following Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 6:00 pm.
Additionally, we are calling for a 2 hour delay on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, to assess conditions prior to the start of school. As always, safety first.

Happy New Year!! Our FAMILY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TEAM along with our WCS Staff are very excited about the WCS District Spirit Week activities planned. To start off the New Year 2024, we will focus more on our theme and slogan, "LIFTING AS WE CLIMB". Beginning at 3:00 pm on January 4, 2024, Parents and Guardians from all five (5) schools will come inside to the WCMS Media center to receive a free School Supply Refresh Packet for your Scholar from their school's table. You will need to sign for each Scholar for our documentation. There is still time to sign up if you are interested in cheering for the teams or playing in the basketball games which will begin at 6:00 pm. The Staff will be wearing black shirts vs. the Students will be wearing white shirts. We are looking forward to our community coming together for fun, fellowship, light refreshments, the school supply packet and educational information from the district. See you all there!!

The roads have been monitored and it will be safe for our buses to be on the road to transport our scholars to and from school. As always, safety first. Also, as a reminder, each of our schools will dismiss early at the following times: WCECHS - 12:00 pm, WCHS - 12:30 pm, WCMS - 12:00 pm, PES - 12:15 pm, and CES - 12:00 pm.. Wednesday, December 20, 2023 will begin our Christmas Break. Please take some time during the Holiday Break to rest, relax, spend time with family and friends or read a good book. Due to flooding, ponding of water on roads, and high winds, all of Washington County schools are closed today, December 18, 2023. Please be safe as you move about the county and be sure to tell a friend about this update.
This is a friendly reminder of the Pines Elementary School "McTeacher Night" to be hosted on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to PES to assist with needs at the school. Please come out and bring your family and friends to have dinner with us. We look forward to seeing you all there.
WCMS will showcase their holiday spirit with WINTER SPIRIT WEEK December 11-19, 2023. Each day the scholars and staff may participate with one or more days of activities. Pictures will be posted.
Congratulations to Chrishaya Gilliam and D’Asia Hyman for being inducted into the Honor Society at Beaufort County Community College while they were WCHS Scholars. These two scholars were recognized at the December WCS Board of Education Meeting by the Board Members and Interim Superintendent Dr. David O. White. We are all proud of your accomplishments. Job well done!
End of Course Exams will be administered beginning December 13, 2023, at Washington County High School and December 14, 2023, at Washington County Early College High School. Please be sure your child gets plenty of rest, eats a healthy breakfast, and arrives at school on time each day. Testing will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. at each testing site. If you have questions, please contact your child’s school.

Scholars, Families and Staff Member have been visitings and purchasing items al week long. Friday, December 1, 2023 will be the last day to shop as the Book Fair will come to a close.
