Early College High School Students are reminded that Mrs. Whitfield's extra credit assignment is due on Monday. I can assure you that late work will not be accepted if it is not turned in on Monday. Extra Credit work does not come along very often, so make sure you have it complete.
Students interested in participating with the rifle team this year need to see Mr. Price and take the JROTC Air Rifle Marksmanship Cadet Safety Examination. We are thrilled with all the students participating in this activity this year. However, you must start now if you are going to participate. This is not an activity that you can join later in the year. So if you are interested, then you must reach out now.
Students planning to participate in the early college's can food drive are reminded that can food items are due this coming Friday. All students participating in this community service event are eligible to attend the NC State Fair trip on October 20th.Remember, you must not have any grade lower than a C, nor can you have any zeros in any class.
The end of the 1st nine weeks is on October 6th. So we are down to the last two weeks of this quarter. Parents, I would encourage you to have your scholar pull up PowerSchool and show you their grades. If you click on the number of the grade, you can see individual grades on every assignment. If you see a zero, encourage them to complete that assignment as soon as possible. Also, every student has access to tutor.com. Students have been shown how to use this program to complete home assignments and also how to use it to study for their tests. Take advantage of this valuable resource.
Parents, The Early College will have one of its biggest community service events this year on Monday, October 31st. Our trunk or treat festival was an excellent way for our students to earn community service hours and make great memories for our elementary students. The actual trunk or treat runs from 5:30-6:00 pm, and we need your assistance. Please consider bringing your car to the parking lot beside the Garden Spot in downtown Plymouth. If you would like to participate, please get in touch with Mr. Price. We are also in need of supplies for this event. Of course, candy is the most significant need, but we also need adults to help with hot dogs, popcorn, beverages, and supervision. Last year we had over 400 students participate, so please join us this year for a fantastic experience.
All Students, please mark your calendars for a trip to BCCC on October 11th. This trip will highlight the following programs:
Automotive, Agribusiness, BLET, Boatbuilding, University Transfer Programs, Information technology, cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Electrical Engineering, Human Services, Mechanical Engineering, Medical Labs, Medical Office Administration, Nurse Aid, Nursing, Teacher Preparation, welding and more. There will also be personnel on hand to discuss college financial aid opportunities.
Field trip permission forms will be posted on our web page this week, and I hope everyone can participate. We expect to return to WCHS for drop-off at 6:30 pm and WCECHS at 7:00 pm.
All students, our bus is full for the ACT trip on October 22nd. So we have scheduled another trip for December 10th. Upper-level students were given priority seating for the October trip; however, the December trip is open on a first-come, first-served basis. If you are interested in participating, you must sign up with Ms. Rasonabe quickly. Once all of the bus seats are full, you will have to wait until the Spring of 2023 to retake it.
