Dear Washington County School Community,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to provide an important update regarding the construction of our new school building. As you may be aware, this project is a significant investment in the future of our students and community, and we have been eagerly anticipating its completion.
Unfortunately, I must inform you that the delivery and opening of the new building will be delayed until late fall. Despite the best efforts of our construction team and partners, unexpected site issues have impacted the project timeline.
We understand that this news may be disappointing, especially for those who were looking forward to utilizing the new facilities. Please rest assured that we are doing everything in our power to address these issues and expedite the completion process. Our primary concern remains the safety and quality of the building, and we are committed to ensuring that it meets the highest standards.
Although this is an unfortunate circumstance, we are still moving forward with our planned consolidation of Washington County Elementary School (formerly Pines and Creswell Elementary Schools) and Washington County High School (combined WCHS and WCMS). We appreciate your understanding and patience as we navigate this situation.
We will continue to keep you updated on the progress of the project and will notify you of the new expected completion date as soon as it is confirmed. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work towards providing the best possible educational environment for our students.
Sincerely,
David O. White, Ed.D.

If you missed the WCS Substitute Refresher Training Class offered in July, don't worry! A makeup class will be held on August 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Pre-K Roper building. Current substitutes need to check their email for a calendar invite. New substitutes must complete the online Substitute 101 Class and present a copy of their certificate to be admitted to the refresher/orientation class. Remember, without this training, you will not be eligible to substitute for the 2024 to 2025 school year at WCS.

Thank You to our awesome support system, WCS Retired Educators, members of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated and staff from Plymouth Police Department. Each individual volunteered their precious resources with our scholars at Pines Elementary School during READ ACROSS AMERICA! We greatly appreciate you all for answering the call in giving back to WCS. Each scholar was very attentive and participated in the question and answer segment.
